Mystery Jets debut two new tracks from upcoming album ‘A Hole To See The Sky Through’
Just ahead of the release this summer, the band has unleashed both ‘Flea Joint’ and ‘Anaglypta’.
The London-based band Mystery Jets has unveiled a double dose of new music as a precursor to their upcoming album. The tracks, titled ‘Flea Joint’ and the intriguing ‘Anaglypta’, provide an exciting glimpse into their seventh studio project, ‘A Hole To See The Sky Through’.
Frontman Blaine Harrison elaborates on ‘Flea Joint’: “We aimed for a linear and hypnotic vibe, crafting melodies and hooks over a series of lively loops during sultry summer nights. This method of gradual enhancement reminded us of works by Fela Kuti or Can, yet the cyclical riff also seemed to evoke the sounds of 80s Manchester, which nudged us back toward a familiar sonic landscape.”
Then there’s ‘Anaglypta’, a nod to the decorative wallpaper favoured in Victorian times that later morphed into a cover-up for shabby accommodations. Harrison explains its deeper meaning: “This track symbolizes the feeling of being stuck in a monotonous existence. Musically, we wanted to evoke an uplifting spirit, akin to scenes of soaring above moonlit cities in search of an idealized fantasy, even if it exists solely in the mind.”
These two tracks serve as appetizers before the full album drops on 21st August via Fiction Records, following their earlier album, 2020’s A Billion Heartbeats. To celebrate, the band has lined up an instore tour this summer, in addition to a major headline tour scheduled for later this year. They’re also set to make a special appearance at Signature Brew during our upcoming issue launch party for July/August 2026 (but keep it under wraps!).

What’s particularly intriguing about 'Switchblade' is its duality: there’s a juxtaposition of sweet pop sensibilities and a sharp, introspective edge. If you’re a listener acquainted with her earlier works, this evolution feels pronounced, suggesting a deepening of her lyrical themes. It’s clear she’s not afraid to venture into more complex emotional territory.
This event isn't just another festival. It signifies an opportunity for artists to connect with wider audiences while retaining an intimate atmosphere that smaller venues often lack. What this means for you as a fan is a chance to see performances that might not otherwise reach your local scene.
For fans who’ve seen him live, this release is a no-brainer, but for those unfamiliar, it serves as an invitation to experience the excitement that his shows deliver. Live albums can often bring a new layer of appreciation for an artist’s work, blending spontaneity with well-crafted musicality.
For those navigating the indie music circuit, Mescal’s latest piece might serve as both inspiration and a benchmark. Her ability to weave relatable themes with modern production is a testament to the talents emerging from this vibrant genre.
